On a fine spring day the mighty 2's now known as the "The Oaks" made the short hope across the moors to play Dorking Vets in an early kick off due to the internationals.

For once we were almost a full team of 15 players but 14 it was. A hearty warm-up of all about 1 minute and we were off. It soon became apparent that this was going to be a very painful afternoon’s play as the vets were schooled in the more traditional ways of playing rugby.

The scrums were a particular pleasure to be in and you really did not want to get on the wrong side of a ruck. The game ebb and flowed in what was an entertaining first half for people watching from the sidelines with the vets getting the first try.

The 2s of Reigate were staring to get breaks through the backline and it would be only a matter of time before we got the break we deserved and our very only little Irish Rocket going over under the posts. With Ed continuing is fine form in front of the posts slotting the kick.

The second half and are superior fitness (?) started to kick in. With forwards and backs getting over the game line, however slight errors were undoing our hard work. Reigate were awarded a penalty on the 10m line(?) directly in front of the post and Ed again slotted the kick with ease, more pressure from and a move that went down the line saw Julian go over for a try but almost made a mess of it by deciding to put the ball right next to the dead ball line rather than when he was over the try line. There was much satisfaction for Julian being a former Dorking player to get one over his all chums.

The vets got angry and started pounding their way up the pitch only to loose the ball on a turnover and again our Irish rocket to said a bomb down the pitch into the 22 and was there to pass on to Ed who got try number 3 under the post which again Ed then slotted over the conversion.

In the last minute the 2s defence was breached and Dorking went over for the second time in the game. But the game was over and the 2s group round and congratulated each other on a fine win and managing to keep there cool under some very over the top tactics by certain members of the opposition.

Thanks for everyone again for making the effort to turn up and play and contributing to a very enjoyable but hard fought win again....

Any other suggestions for team name more than welcome.
