The day was always going to be strange as events unfolded. The numbers were not looking great with 13 available. But as the morning passed players were dropping like flies or failing to turn up. So the great convoy of cars and team left Reigate for sunny Tolworth - well 2 cars!

On route still more players were dropping out and a decision was made to turn up at the oppositions and see how they would like to play it or not play. Which was the preferred option in car 1 where talk had turned to a pinic in sunny Croydon watching the 1st team. Such was the excitement a full menu was planned red wine, beer, a selection of cheeses, warm bagettes and hot chicken hmmmmm! However such excitement was dashed when we reliased car 2 had arrived first and explained our position to the oppostion and the game was on!

The 10 brave souls of the day were Dave,Paul,Ed,Mat,Lyndon,Bleddyn,Copey,Iain,Eric,Le Capitain. It was agreed we should give the boys of Racal the points for the game as a walkover and for us they lent us players each half and the game was on 14 v 14.

The first half was end to end stuff with Racal getting an early blow but our Mary's quickly got to grips with the conditions and were streaming through the opposition creating breathtaking moves that put them over the try line 4 times in the first half with the peach of a try being worked form in side Reigate's half and putting Sam(from Raca) over the line and Paul's halfway line break that saw him tackled just 2 meters short but still managed to compose himself and get the ball over the try line.

Ed had decided to bring his Wayne Rooney boots today and hit 7 or 8 beauties over the sticks from all angles and in difficult windy conditions. Unbelievable! if I were not there I would not have believed it.

Reigate went in at half time 4 tries to 2 up. The second half saw some solid defending by Reigate in the 22,as the big fowards of Racal started to rumble up the park, but some quick thnking and intelligent play saw the Mary's again slice the oppositions apart and were now starting to score at will, with Ed, Mat, Paul all going over again. Not to outdone of this the fowards decided to show the Marys some more blood and guster type of play with the pick of fowards try Dave 22 yard dash to the line with all the Racal Decca team hanging off him.

The gates opened for Reigate in the second half but for large periods were pinged back into there 22, but were now breaking from inside the 22 and moving up the pitch. It was a good idea as the kicking out of hand ws some what wayward to say the least. Eric for winning a scrum against the head after repeated encourgement from Lyndon.

As with the week before this was a very enjoyable game and a beer was shared wth the oppostion afterward, thanks to Racal Decca for giving us the players and making a good game of it.

Big thanks for the 10 players that turned up and made the effort for what as a enjoyable game and got the 2's back to winning ways...and we will have the pinic one day.

There are games to come and I will send out details for next week, but do keep the 28/03/09 free for the mini tour to Haslmere and then fun and frolicks on the way back.
